Frequently Asked Questions
If your question has not been answered,
use our convenient form to contact us.
How do I join TSCA?
By Joining NSCA, you are
automatically a member of TSCA.
Does TSCA
charge dues?
No.
How does
TSCA pay expenses?
From target fees collected by
Clubs at registered shoots. $1.00 per 100 targets is collected from every shooter,
even if not a resident of Texas.
Who
can participate in a TSCA Shoot?
There are two
TSCA sponsored shoots per year. One
is at the National Shooting Complex and
the other is at a member club that
has been chosen through a bid process. These two shoots are underwritten by the
TSCA for the first 200 shooters on a first come first
served basis. If there are spots left over prior to the shoot, shooters from out
of state may participate. If all the spots are filled,
then the host club will make the call on the number of entries. Out-of-state
shooters are not eligible for drawings, prizes or
awards furnished by the TSCA unless the host club
provides separate out-of-state awards. Out-of-state
shooters can participate in options and win money.
These two low cost shoots are one way that the TSCA
gives back to what our shooters contribute. This is
why the entry fees are low and the awards are great!
How are
TSCA Officers and Directors elected?
Board elections are by US mail or electronic
ballot, with entire membership in good standing eligible to cast
one ballot. Ballots must be received by TSCA Secretary
30 days prior to Annual Meeting at State Championships. New Board is seated the
Monday AFTER conclusion of State Championships.
When
does the newly elected TSCA board start?
The new board
starts after the Texas State Championship Shoot.
Are
Officers and Directors paid?
No, all are volunteers.
Why aren't
all registered shoots listed in Sporting Clays Magazine?
The magazine requires at
least 3 months advanced notification. Shoots may be added or cancelled during this
time. We are aware that some shoots are inaccurately listed, but TSCA is not allowed to communicate
directly with the magazine. Efforts are made to send accurate information
to the NSCA who can contact Sporting Clays Magazine.
How do the clubs get to
pick the shoot dates?
All clubs are rated by the number of registered
targets thrown during the previous calendar year from the most on down to the
least. The number one club picks first, followed by the number 2 club, and so
on until the first "round" is over. Clubs are allowed one "2 day" pick each.
Then the second round begins, and runs in the same sequence as the first round.
this continues until through multiple rounds until all the clubs have picked the
their dates.
No club is barred from making a pick based on
shoot cancellations. The 150 mile rule is enforced on every pick. Clubs that
pick the same date as a club who has picked a date first, and are in violation
of the 150 mile rule, must have the first club's permission to hold the shoot or
they must pick another date.
Swapping of dates, renegotiation of
the 150 mile rule, etc. occurs after ALL dates are chosen and happens between
the clubs involved. Changes can be made at that time with the consent of all
involved. Once all the picks have been made the TSCA Treasurer will compile a
complete listing of all shoots for that year and send it out to all the range
owners as well as the NSCA.
The Team Texas Challenge
shoots are now picked based upon
the 5 largest attended shoots in the previous year. This assures the best
attendance and the best target setters to help determine Team Texas. The Team
Texas shoots are listed every year on the TSCA website once they are decided
upon.
Is
the listing on ShootersPages.com accurate and up-to-date?
Yes, ShootersPages.com
updates the NSCA Registered shoots in the Calendar of Events based solely on
information supplied from TSCA.
Who
are the Texas NSCA Delegates?
Please go to the
Board of Directors page for this info.
